Mixing vocal and instrumental classical selectons

My preference is programming that does not mix vocal and instrumental selections in classical music. I enjoy both very much, but vocal music takes my attention far more than instrumental. This is because the human voice is more commanding of my attention than the sound of instruments.

Very often my music listening is casual, even when listening to the great works of Mozart or other composers. I listen to music while doing something else that must be done during my day. When the music is vocal, it takes my attention away from my task. For this reason, I find programming that mixes vocal music, arias, songs, motets, chorales, etc. with instrumental music too much of a distraction.
