Good afternoon. I have been sampling world music, and happened upon the channel 'Calling all Pipers.' I am struck by how little bagpiping there is. Beyond the odd piece with uillean (Irish) pipes and Breton (French) pipes, there is almost NO music of the 'great' Scottish pipes. 'What's up with that?' I wonder. How can a channel specifically drawing attention to the pipes be so riddled with ridiculous fiddlers and flautists and maudlin Irish related stuff? Please go through the world music library and find some genuine pipers, from the famous Scottish regimental pipe bands, the Edinburgh Tattoo, and other sources of majestic massed pipes and drums, for us.
Just out of curiosity, do you have any idea why American parades on St. Patrick's Day feature SCOTTISH pipes and drums? It's pretty weird, don't you think? Cheers, Duncan MacKenzie (a Scottish name)
